Translation detail: There's one random event that results in an offer to trade. The sense of the trade is reversed. For example I read something like "We will give you one alien sensor (value 150,000) for four grenades (value 780)". This looked like a great deal until I received four grenades. :-)
Are there templates for this kind of thing in the english.dat file mentioned in this thread? It looks like knord is the most active? |

Sounds good to me. It's interesting how phrasing changes things. Someone once said that the British and Americans are separated by a common language. I guess the same is true of the dialects or any language. :-) |

Questions regarding translations.
1) What does "Accu" mean (in Nickel Alphatron Accu)?
2) Intrepid Destroyer A prototype by the HNA...
Who/what is HNA?
Could anyone enlighten me in what these things mean, please?

I think that ACCU stands for ACCUMULATOR..
Anyway, great game, but i miss some more eng translations like Tips & so on..
If you tell me how to do, i will translate it into italian ... Froma english.

At Moment the Tipps can't be translated.
To translate the game to italian, look at http://www.xforce-online.de/translations.php There you find all files for downloa,which must be translated.
There is also a description how to translate. |

Ah, the main problem for translation is that i DON'T speak german.. So i should start from the English file version, that i cannot find...

Hey folks. Good game.
Just trying to touch-up a few items in the english.dat translation file.
I came across this:
ENoRoomAtStart=There is not enough room to start a new game. Please ensure, that you allocate enough starting facilities in the research editor.
I'm not sure where this appears in the game and I'm also confused by what it means.
New game? Research Edior?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Edit: Another thought. The english skills dont seem to have translated too well.
Power = Strength, right? Is it okay to alter these so they are better suited
Observation = Perception? This is how far they can see / sense an alien, right?
And what is the meaning of Spaher, I'm under the impression it means scout, but can anyone confirm that? |

Späher means scout, right. On another note, it could mean Explorer as well, but scout fits it better. |

I'm changing "Infighting" to Melee, too, and the word strokes (the word used to describe attacks in melee combat, simply to "attacks".

Other than that I've just corrected typos (eg techician, and antartica), and tried to add a sense of continuity in the terms used.
It's still by no means perfect though.
Here's a question. Do the UFOs come down to attack, or do the X-Force crafts go up to defend against them?
I ask this as in some places UFO-Interceptor combat is described as Air Combat, and sometimes Space Combat. |

The Ufos come to destroy the earth and x-force defend the earth. But the story (who´s in progress) says more about this, i think and hope so. |

Being a fan of the original xcom games, as you probably are too, I know this.
It's just the wording of the english translation that makes me wonder.
This isnt a direct remake, which im quite glad it's not, so it has its own rules of engagement.
UFO was air combat and a final space voyage.
TFTD was water combat with a final deep-sea voyage.
Apocalypse was city combat with a (several) final inter-dimensional voyage.
UFO: Aftermath was... just annoying.
UFO: Aftershock is looking promising.
X-Force: Fight For Destiny is: ... space combat or air combat? (these not being the same)
Dont take me wrong, I'm not criticising this game, I love it, even if it is the worlds most impossible to play (and be good at). Challenges are good though. |

Spaher= Scout also right. A soldier with high Observation = Perception
melee should also be right in my experience

No idea with this sentences together.
could mean: User-gameset: No lab at the start of the game, but nothing happens if you save a gameset like this (and it doesn´t let you save if there is no ammo for a gun)
possible: (second sentece): no items in the gameset for research. non-alien items are in "Forschungsprojekte" (I would translate research projects ^.^) ~ research editor |

another possibility: in the game and research screen, if you have no room for more research (only one lab und you want 30 scientists to work)
but I don´t think that is it. |
