Hello X Force team and gamers,
My name is Serhat and I am from Turkey.
First I congratulate you for this nice game.

I want to ask you something about translating,

I didn't see any Turkish translation file of this game.
Do you need Turkish translation ??
If you need I can translate it for you (English to Turkish).

Which files i need to translate ??

At the moment no one is working on a Turkish translation - you can start one but you should consider asking for help, a full translation including gameset is a lot of work.

For playing, english.dat and config english.dat are the translation files for the game engine.
tips_english.dat and editor english.dat are additional files for the main menu tips window and the editor.
However the gameset text is not included in those four files - there's another discussion here with informations for translators where you can read how to get the translation file for a gameset.

But please ask first before starting a gameset translation - the default gameset is about to change to another one in a few months, and it would be better to start translation with the new one instead of the old one.

I can translate all english.dat files (without game set files) and i think it can use with english game set files a few months

But Later I will need some help because all Dev Pack Editors are German :(

Do you have the 0903 or the 0910?

In the 0910Alpha-5 a large part of the main editor has been translated to english (unfortunately not all, but we're working on it).

DO NOT translate the files from the 0903, we already got better translations in the 0910.

What are the differences between V.0903 and V.0910 ??

To many to list here, someone else is already working on a translation of the new features from german to english.

Just a few of them:
- language file for the main editor (incomplete but a start)
- scripting commands allowing a gameset to take control of the UFOs (flight path and actions/reactions), mainly used in the galactic war gameset (the other gamesets use a few of those)
- an new ground combat map (if you start a new game delete the data/maps/village.m3d to prevent seeing the old map, if you want to continue an old saved game you'll have to keep that file until all existing missions are solved and you have a save file without any open ground combat missions)
- new weapon effects (not yet used in every gameset)

Translation of the four game engine language files can start anytime. After that is done you can ask for the language file of the gameset "galactic war" which is scheduled to replace the current default gameset.

Really? The galwar, Lennstars gameset and my gameset have weapons with range effects, right? Are there any other gamesets? Are there maybe some english gameset I haven't seen yet?

The galwar demo 2.1 doesn't use the new shrapnell effect, and I was referring to the new effect, not the old explosion effect...

Is there a language eror in V.0910 Alpha-5 ??

Some Strings couldn't find in language file: (English file)

In game V.0910 fonts are too shiny, I think V.0903 fonts are better than V.0910 :)

It's not exactly an error, the program only reports that some of the newer language strings haven't been added to the english file yet.
you could either look for them in the german file or as DaFranker for the newest translation files (those weren't ready in time for the Alpha-5).

That is the reason for the errors - the file you translated is basically the one from the 0.903 and is missing a few new strings introduced in the 0.910.

I don't know if the files on DaFranker's Filefront page are his latest files, but he has his email posted in one of the english tranlator discussions - please ask him directly.
I'm still waiting for the complete translation files from him...

Can I ask, how can I add some Turkish civilan names (like my name Serhat Soylemez) for soldiers, scientists and technicians into the game :)

not possible at the moment (the data is stored inside the pak archives), but that ability will probably be added when we go to the units as a programming fokus (probably in the last stages of the rework of the ground combat engine since that's when the unit definitions will be checked.

But since the ground combat programming is scheduled to be divided between the 0.920, 0.930 and 0.940 it'll be some time until that happens...
