v0.917a03 steht zum Download bereit from Natter 31.08.2011, 16:23
Alte Kartenskripte müssen also überarbeitet werden.

 v0.917a02 verfügbar from Natter 19.05.2011, 21:58
Viel Spass beim testen. Den Downloadlink findet ihr hier:

Alphaphase für v0.917 gestartet from Natter 07.06.2010, 01:09

- GroundTiles (GT)
- WallTiles (WT)
- ObjectTiles (OT)
- RenderTiles (RT)

XCOM Shooter-Ableger offiziell angekündigt from DirkF 24.04.2010, 09:29
Hallo zusammen,

Details findet Ihr hinter diesem Link:

http://www.gamestar.de/news/pc/action/egoshooter/2314196/xcom.html

 V0.915 Beta-4 verfügbar from DirkF 20.06.2009, 14:30

 V0.915 Beta-2 available from DirkF 12.06.2009, 22:56

The download-link at the top right of our homepage has been updated to link to the second Beta.
The most important bugfix is the problem with the regional settings from Windows that caused the game to crash in several countries. You should be able to play it again now.

There are several other bugfixes and minor improvements to the gamesets "GalWar" and "Smirkovich", but as most of you probably weren't able to start the first beta there's a lot more new for you - please read the previous news post for more info.

Please note that we are still looking for translators to continue the translations into english - a lot of the new research topics in the galactic war have yet to be translated.

We also have trouble tracking some random bugs that happen only sporadically - we really appreciate it if you send us error messages you get while testing the game.

Thanks

 X-Force Open Beta V0.915 from DirkF 31.05.2009, 09:25

Hello everyone,

almost a year has passed since the last update to V0.912-Final.

In this time we were busy implementing a lot of changes in the program - most of which were only announced in German until now.

Now the time has come for the next open beta in the newest version, V0.915.

A complete list of all changes is too long for such a news, so I'll only tell you the big changes.

The Ground Combat Engine has been updated with many new features, including an improved and script-based AI for the enemies. I suggest anyone who played X-Force before to be careful when fighting aliens as they now react much better than in previous versions. For example they don't fire anymore when the to-hit-probability is low.

Many features have been added to help gameset-creators in using the new options, especially the skripts to control the UFOs. It is no longer neccessary for a gameset creator to learn the scripting language for changing the UFO AI between several prepared scripts.

We startet translating the tutorial as well (the main and now expanded gameset "Galactic War" was translated for the previous version), and the older multi-language X-Force default-gameset has been updated (but not improved) to be playable as well.

Unfortunately the translations are not yet complete - if you want to help translating please post so in the english section of our forum.

The entire team asks you to have you fun with the Open Beta. The download is available in the download area, on the top right of the homepage and here:

Update available from DirkF 10.06.2008, 21:11

A corrected version of the V0.912 in now available in the online-updater as well as the setup.
Crashes after aircraft battles as well as non-shooting aliens in ground combat should now be solved along with a few other bugfixes.

Old savegames can be continued without problems

 V0.912 available from DirkF 07.06.2008, 16:36

The new version V0.912 is now available for download with a new setup. However if you install this version you have to start a new game.

Important Notice
If you downloaded the V0.912 earlier this day then please download and install it again. There has been an error within the config.exe in 0.911 and the previous version of the 0.912 also contained the malfunctioning config.exe

Second notice:
There is a remaining random heavy error with escape tries from aircraft battle simulation, but we were not able to reproduce that error - all escape attempts in our testing game always worked as intended.
Please save if you are about to enter battle with an eariol squadron, and if that error occurs in your game please send us that savegame for analysis (if not you can delete or overwrite it).

And now have fun with the new version - beside the removal of the malfunctioning arcade mode and a few bug fixes we also included a few new features in the game.

Version 0.911 final available from DirkF 22.05.2008, 02:07

After a long time the V0.911 is finally ready and available for download.
Many things have changed in the game and in the gameset of the galactic war - you will have no choice but to start a new game.
However this will be rewarded by new graphic and a lot of other things in the gameset.

Grafic
* Screen "New game" has been improved to show more informations about the available gamesets
* Geoscape received an improved texture

Sound
* changed some sound files
* new script functions to allow a gameset to control the music played

X-Script
* renamed all commands and functions to their english equivalent (removing german word components)
* a lot of new commands to control geoscape, recruitment, UFOs and more

gameset: The galactic war
* UFOs follow pre-programmed paths
* two new races with new technologies and some special surprises
* improved alien equipment becomes available in ground combat after a while
* New aircraft weaponry for the X-Force to help fighting against the later UFOs

and a lot more.
A little hint for players of the galactic war:
when starting a new game you should check on your base, and you should look for changes in the geoscape menu buttons.

Neuer Forumsbereich from DirkF 08.11.2007, 20:18

A long time ago the forum was closed for unregistered members due to a large number of spam-posts and uncoordinated discussion posts.

Because of some improvements to the programming (thanks to Jim_Raynor) we have a filter for spam posts. Because of this we opened a part of the forum for unregistered users.

However there is still the problem of uncoordinated discussions. In the past some people discussing improvements for X-Force mixed different user names until it was sometimes impossible to tell who posted what to a discussion.

Because of this all other forum areas still allow posting only for registered users and the team will ignore all feature requests postet in the open area. If you want to help, please register.

The open area is there to post questions and general opinions without registering - this way there's no need to post such things in the guestbook or on the screenshot pages anymore.

Mantis: Grafics and Sounds from DirkF 29.10.2007, 23:24
Hello everyone,

to improve the work on grafics and sound effects in X-Force I've created two new projects in our Mantis-Bugtracker.
Most of the tickets there will be german ones looking for grafics or sounds for the (mostly german) gamesets, but if someone decides it is time to start an english gameset (two tries in the past failed due to an incomplete editor set, but the main editor is now mostly translated) you can post requests for grafics or sounds there.

And if you're offering a self-created picture or sound for use in X-Force you can upload it there.

However a few rules apply to that:
- no licensed files. With an upload you confirm that you have created the file yourself (it might be work based on other free files from X-Force, but not from somewhere else). Free content from other pages may only be linked, never uploaded on our site.
- BMP and WAV only in zipped archives (most of them won't pass the 500KB limit on the upload anyway if not zipped)
- Files attached to completed tickets will be archived on our wiki pages and then be deleted from the bugtracker after a while.

Any gameset creator or artist who wants to help please register on Mantis and email me your account name (or post it here).

Regards,
DirkF
X-Force Coordinator

Looking for new Teammembers from DirkF 09.09.2007, 09:50
Hello everyone,

we are looking for people to help us with promoting and translating X-Force. One position is open for the english community and the other for the german community (switch the website to german if you're interested).
Details and questions can be asked in the discussion linked below, but here is a short summary:

Public Relations english
- spreading news about X-Force on the larger english strategy websites
- answering questions about X-Force or pointing our attention to these questions
- maintaining a link page in the english wiki with all web adresses mentioning X-Force

Koordinating Translations
- managing everyone asking to help us in translations
- splitting the larger language files into parts that can be translated in several hours and assigning them to the translators

Requirements:
- native english speaker preferred
- preferred NOT to help translating (because we also need people to proofread, and you can't proofread something you translated yourself)
- about one or two hours a week on the internet with time for X-Force

Questions and applications can be send to xforce@avarion.de or posted here: http://www.xforce-online.de/forum/index.php?action=vthread&forum=41&to pic=2081

 0.910 final from Natter 26.08.2007, 18:37
Almost two years have passed since the last "final". Version 0.900Final was first avaible for download on Oct 10th, 2005.
It that time the development of X-Force and especially the X-Force-Team went through several highs and lows. Two of the once most active team members have left the team. This might have been the end for X-Force due to the small size of the team.
Instead I'm proud to present the release of the 0.910Final.

There have been a lot of improvements since the 0.900 - although most of the improvements have been published for months in the extended Alpha- and Beta-Testing. The total list of improvements is too large to repeat everything here, but I'll list the most important milestones for new players:

- Introduction of range effects
- New damage calculations (introducing armor equipment for aliens)
- difficulty settings controlled by gameset (in the editor)
- many improvements at production and research (ressource materials, upgrades as research trees,...)
- Gound combat maps can now have objects on a field in addition to the walls
- many improvements to X-Skript

* new commands for skripts, including commands to control UFO behavior on the geoscape
* improved event system
* supports uses and units
* gameset-defined global variables
* ability for gamesets to created new control screens

- automatic random equipping of soldiers on game start (depending on stored equipment in the base)
- new default story/gameset: The galactic war (also improved compared to the last beta)
- improved graphics (new resolutions, new tilesets and maps for ground combat)
- and a lot of bugfixes...

Despite all difficulties we managed to improve X-Force a lot. However there are still difficulties ahead - mainly because the team is still very small. So stay tuned - at some time in the near future we will ask for people interested in joining the team for different positions - including positions for english speaking people.

And now a few words about future plans:
Work has already started on the next version 0.915. That version will contain at least four major improvements (perhaps more), including the long awaited ability to assign Equipment to specific alien figures, allowing the gameset to define the avaibility and data on the player's bases, improvements to the new skriptcontrolled screens and a lot of new options with X-Script.
In the farther future, the planed version 0.920 will begin to improve the ground combat engine including skript commands for mapskripts.

The first alpha-versions of the 0.915 will not be released to the public, but they will be made avaible to selected gameset creators and their teams. An open beta might follow at the beginning of 2008 - perhaps earlier if we find additional programmer.

Have fun with X-Force: Fight For Destiny V0.910

Improved Homepage and V0.910 Beta 1 released from DirkF 07.07.2007, 23:11

Hello everyone,

several months after the last alpha-release and more than one year after the first release of any V0.910 we can now present the V0.910 Beta for download.

And when you're reading this you have already seen our new and improved homepage.

Due to the temporary help of a very old team member (who will post something about that in the next days) we were able to include a lot of new features in this V0.910Beta - more than we would have been able to do on our own.
Because of this we decided to make a beta instead of the planned final - these new features will require another testing phase.

A short summary of the new features since V0.910Alpha-5 is:

1.) New screen-resolutions, which can be choosen in the config.exe
2.) improved scripting commands, which includes new commands to define special screens for gamesets.
3.) internal code-optimizing with a new small base as a test.
4.) automatic random distribution of stored weapons and armors to new soldiers
5.) many minor error corrections reported during the alpha versions
6.) many small improvements
Aaand:
7.) A new english gameset, 'the galactic war' with new aliens, new story and new research to replace the old default gameset.

We have to carefully test the new resolutions due to the massive changes done in that area, so we welcome any responses from you. If everything works as planned we will make other resolutions avaible after the testing is complete - at the moment you can choose between 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x800 (for widescreen-tfts).

Most of the english speaking people were probably not able to play any of the german gamesets released during the alpha phase. Because of this several improvements made avaible to the german community are probably unknown to you, because there wasn't an english gameset that uses them.
One of the biggest improvements to the scripting language was the ability to script the UFOs with different behaviours - when you play the galactic war you'll quickly realise that some enemies ignore you while others hunt your fighters down and many (but not all) avoid your base defences.

Other and more recent improvements to the XScript include the ability to place gameset-specific buttons on the geoscape and use them to start specific scripts or display new screens with different controls. Since those features are very new they aren't used by gamesets yet, but they will be included in time for the final V0.910.

Or you can now experiment with gamesets for yourselves - the gameset editor is almost completely translated to english (only a few german words remaining) and you can start to develop your own english gamesets now.
To help with this we will improve the non-german discussion area on our homepage within the next one or two days. You can also ask any questions about how to create gamesets there - we have english pages in our online documentation, but they do not yet contain a tutorial on gameset creation.

Most of the internal code optimizations will result in very few visible improvements until the next version V0.915, but you can help test them by playing with the new small base. This small base can be constructed in countries that do not trust the player with a full base and other than the outpost it is possible to place a hangar here. Unfortunately (for the player) the base can't contain much more than a hangar and a few small facilities - but at least you can get more bases out there for the defence of earth against the very strong enemies from the galactic war.

To speed up gameplay all new soldiers now get their equipment randomly assigned as long as there is something left in the storage rooms. In some gamesets where there are only a few weapon types avaible at start that is no problem. But if you're playing a gameset with different weapon and armour types you might check on your soldiers if they're carrying a good combination of weapons, ammunitions and armors.

The galactic war is the gameset intended for the ultimate version of XForce and it's story will continue to grow with every new version of the program. The previous default.pak was made only for testing, but it will remain avaible for those who would like to play with it. However it will not be improved as the galactic war will be.

If you want to translate the galactic war into other languages (or report some translation errors which still are in the english version), please register at our forum or the bugtracker and report them.

And now I wish you some fun with the new version of XForce.
